Hi,

I'm a descended from Anthony ROCK born about 1821 in Germany. He supposedly
came over when he was about 11 to America. I don't know where he was for sure
until 1880 when he ended up in Kanawha County, WV. He was married to Amanda
HANSHAW who I think was born in WV. Of his 10 children I only know about
four.
The oldest of those, George W., was born in Ohio according to the census. The
next , Henry Wesley, was born in Mississippi according to birth and death
records, the rest born in WV (Anna, Barbara and Thomas). That's really all I
know. This is a tough line for me. However, I do remember now seeing some
Ohio
ROCKs when I was doing research at the Akron Public Library. I'll see if I
can
dig up that research.

Teresa, I enjoyed your email as I'm looking for Rock surname info also. My
Rocks were in Rthges, Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany mid-1800's or before. Johann
(Conrad?) Rock died abt 1848 and his widow Barbara (Damer) and three children
(George, Elizabeth, John) went to Cleveland, OH, by 1849. I've always figured
it was because she either had Damer or Rock relatives there (A widow-strange
country-three children...why else?).

Do you have any other information that might help tie us? Below is a capsule
of what I know. (BTW, "Rock" is my mother's surname, so it's very important to
me. I'm trying to collect all clues.)
