Dear J. Tanner:
You don't me, but I am from Missouri. My brother married a Tanner, and it
turns out I was able to prove they were related! (They are now divorced).
Now, regarding KEMPER, if you are in search of funds I have an excellent
source for you:
Two of the larger banks in Missouri are owned by members of the Kemper family:
Commerce Bank and United Missouri Bank. This is the same family though they
are not on speaking terms. One of them, R. Crosby "Chris" Kemper III heads up
the UMB bank in St. Louis. His father Crosby Kemper is CEO. Both the HQ of
both banks are in Kansas City. Chris Kemper is very much into history and
genealogy and often speaks of his Culpeper County roots and family from there.
He used to go by Chris, but now goes by "Crosby III." (A bit pretentious, but
whatever). Please feel free to use my name if you write to him. I am in
Atlanta for a while so don't have his address handy. Just write to the main
office in St. Louis (I think it is on Broadway) and it will get to him. He
will eat this up, beleive me!!! Good luck, Craig Kilby. Also, the "other"
Kemper CEO at Commerce Bank in Kansas City is David Kemper. He is rather a
cool cucumber but it wouldn't hurt to write. They both have ample funds for
this sort of project.
