I thought this deposition might be useful to some Germanna descendants.

Deposition of Thomas Taylor taken 26 MAR 1845 in Clark v. Towles (Madison
Co., VA Chancery File #14): "That he was acquainted with Henry Towles
deceased [b. 1756, son of Stokely Towles and Janes Sparks Wharton]. That the
said Henry Towles had a half brother named Joseph Towles [son of Stokely
Towles and Ann Vallott]. That the said Joseph Towles had 6 children, 4
daughters and two sons. Richard Simms married one of the daughters, James
Simms married one of the daughters, Adam Snyder married one and William Row
married another. That Adam Snyder had by his said wife two children viz
Robert and Sarah. That Sarah married Abram Utz and went to Missouri and
died, leaving children. That Robert Snyder left six children viz Henry T
Snyder, Powell Snyder and Robert J. Snyder, Lucinda who married Henry
Quaintance, Jane who married Walker W. Yowell. That the said Powell Snyder
removed to the state of Missouri and died leaving children--two I think. The
the said Adam Snyder married Nancy Towles. That the said Joseph Towles the
half brother of Henry Towles had two sons viz Henry and Joseph both dead
leaving children and further he says not."
