John and Cuzzins--
I had fallen behind on my emails again, and it is very strange that this
discussion should occur at this time, since I just found the name Rucker at
the Allen County Library, Ft. Wayne, IN about 10 days ago! The information I
found was from payroll records and pension applications for both John Wilhite
and Tobias Wilhite, who served in the Revolution together. Both served under
a "Capt. Ephraim Rucker's company from Culpepper (sic) courthouse under a
Col. Barbour." They served in this same outfit for a few months of at least 3
different years. Later, Ephraim Rucker witnessed the Will of John Wilhite! I
would suggest that if he was NOT of German descent, he must have been a very
close friend. I find no references of a marriage that would otherwise bring
him into the family.
