We have been discussing various means by which land was obtained, and have
been using a few examples in this process.

Adam Yager continues to provide multiple facets of obtaining land. The
following example is very curious.

10 July 1790. Grant of 410 acres to Adam Yager.
References:
(1) Northern Neck Grants U, 1789-1790, p. 609-610
(2) Land Office Patents & Grants, Surveys No. 2, pp. 141-142 (1788-1794).

In the case, the survey notes are quite revealing.

It states "Jan 20, 1787. Surveyed for Adam Yager (by virtue of a warrant
from the Proprietor's office for Jno. Floyd of Culpeper County dated the 2d
day of May 1753 the said warrant delivered to the county surveyor of
Culpeper County the right to which said warrant being conveyed to the said
yager"....legal description follows.

So we see here, that Jonathan Floyd obtaned a warrant for 410 acres on 2
May 1753, and this was conveyed to Adam Yager some time before 20 January
1787. A span of 34 years time.

This certainly raises many questions including of course, the true identity
of Adam's wife, Susannah ----- (NOT KOBLER) Yager. One must be careful of
jumping to conclusions, however. As John Blankenbaker has pointed out,
headrights and warrants for land were negotiable instruments.
