If you suspect your Virginian (or Pennsylvanian or North Carolinian) went to
Kentucky, you may want to explore some of the transcribed censuses on this
URL:

Not all counties have been transcribed. And be sure to check with the actual
census film, if you can. I noted that the county I was reading, for the 1830
census, was full of duplications!!! And names are always misspelled!!!
