Looking at your various spellings of the name makes me wonder if perhaps a
congressman from Indiana's 8th district back in the 1920s and '30s may have
been related. He lived in Evansville (his large home on Lincoln Avenue later
became the TKE fraternity house), and his name was John BOEHNE, which was
pronounced as BAY'nee.
