Hi, J.--- I have been away for several days and am just catching up on all
the messages on the list. The Conway's and the Sevier's do have a marriage
connection. I will have to look through my reference material and get back
with you as to who, when and where.

Yes, Conway Sevier Broyles was named for his ancestors who are/were
relations of the Conway's who went to Arkansas. The story goes that Lewis
Broyles and his family left east Tennessee (about 1820) on a flat boat down
the Tennessee River on their way to Arkansas, to meet family and friends.
However, when they reached the area near where Savannah, Tennessee, is now,
they ran into an acquaintance - Joseph Hardin I think - and he persuaded
Lewis Broyles to stay there and set up his mercantile business.

It may be a day or two before I get back to you, but I will let you know the
connection.

Linda K.

Hi,

I am a Germanna descendant also, but my interest in your message is the
"Sevier" connection. I guess you would say that is a collateral line of
mine. My line are the Conways. Henry Conway had 4 children. Thomas
Conway, the only son, is my line. However all the daughters married
Seviers. Was wondering about the origin of the name "Conway Sevier"
Broyles. Where do you think the "Conway" came from? Was it a personal
connection or only political since the Conways were prominent, especially
in AR??
