I checked my notes and the connection with John Deer may be this:
4 Sep 1779. Nicholas Yager & Susannah his wife, of Culpeper, to John Deer,
Jr. of same, for £500, 196 acres in Robinson Fork on Dark Run adjacent to
John Deer, Sr., Matthias Broyle, John Wayland, Bohannon. Witnessed by Moses
Deer, Godfrey Yager, Cornelius Yager. Recorded 17 May 1785 (after Nicholas¹
death).
(Culpeper DB M: 402-403; Sporacio pp. 119-120).
Apparently the purchase price of £500 had not been paid when Nicholas wrote
his will only a few days after this deed was executed.
