I thought Ralph Jefferson would be vague. I was wrong. This is what turned
up:

1850 United States Federal Census > Pennsylvania > Philadelphia > Southwark
Ward 4 (p. 62 of 196) Enumeration Date 12 Aug 1850

Ralph Jefferson, age 39, Shoemaker, b. England
June " (ie, Jefferson), age 35, born PA (unable to read/write)
Edward Hermanus age 17, Oak Cooper, born PA
Charles Griffith, age 10, born PA, attends school
William Griffith, age 6, born PA
Mary E. Jefferson, age 1, born PA

You can get the information on ancestry.com and they run a 14 day trial
offer for free. I did that free offer and found it worth my while to pay for
a 3 month subscription which has costed me 40 bucks. Where else can you get
that kind of deal!!!

I would suggest it to anyone. I was able to reconstruct families in NJ I had
been looking for since 1978. It took two weeks.
