Below are notes I have accumulated regarding the Routh and Brown families
and their connection to the Gillihans. This may be of interest to the
Gillihans descended from William the Rev. War veteran's son Thomas, whose
wife was Lucy and was probably a Brown. This cluster of
families--Gillihans, Rouths, Browns, Blairs, and others, moved from
Tennessee to Missouri around 1830 and were related to each other through a
few generations of marriage as they were neighbors in two states. I would
appreciate any comments as many mysteries remain, especially proof that Lucy
Gillihan was a Brown.

Hi Sam,

I don't remember corresponding before, but I'll be glad to share what I
have on the Brown line. I don't have any siblings of Hiram, though, but
looking at his children's names, there is a Lucinda...so it's possible
she's named after a sister of Hiram. And the Browns were in Jackson County,
TN in the right years to fit.

Here's what I have:

I just found in my Brown folder the name of Betty Ammerman, who was a very
good friend of my grandmother, Edna Bond Ripley. Betty and I corresponded a
few years ago, and she doesn't have email as far as I know, but she is a
wonderful lady. She sent me mail in October of 1997, asking if I ever found
anything that connects Hiram or Jeremiah Brown to a Lucinda Brown
(1790s-1840) who married Thomas Gilliham (c1790-1840), to please let her
know. Her address is 2331 S. Virginia, Springfield, MO 65807. She goes on
to say most of them lived in Jackson Co., TN and then Green Co., IL before
arriving in Greene (now Polk Co. in 1835) MO in 1833. She also mentions
wanting to know if I have info on Gideon Brown (1780s-c1842) who married
Margaret __; Rebecca Brown (1790s-1840) married Alexander Blair; Jane Brown
(c1802-1865) who married John Wright, and Hezekiah Brown (c1805-1870).
