With the currrent amount of activity and new members, I thought I would
bring back an old question about the Cherokee Gilmores. This family was
living near the family of my John Gilmore in the Greene/Christian Co. area
in 1860. The Cherokee application shows:

Grandfather Coutrain was in treaty of 1832 and was Chief of Eastern
Cherokees. McKinney married Coutrain's sister; Gilmore married McKinney's
daughter.
Personally appeared before me C.C. Cooper and J.J. Crites, who, being duly
sworn, on oath depose and say that they are well acquainted with John F.
Gilmore who makes the forgoing application and statements, and have known
him for 20 years and 12 Years, respectively, and know him to be the
indentical person he represents
himself to be, and that the statements made by him are true, to the best of
their knowledge and belief, and they have no interest whatever in this
claim.

Joseph and Sarah Guiliams/Gilliams were m. Feb 3 1848 in Greene
Co. Mo by D. A. Dryden. Sarah's name on the licence was spelled Gilmer as
was Joseph's.
Sarah Guiliams was born 1835 in IND. 1850 census lists a Darthella Guiliam
b. 1832 IND, living with Corbly M. Girrard. Girrard listed two places from
widow Sarah Darneal from KY.
