I received the following email today and am forwarding it to the Gilson list. I am not sure who these Gilsons are and will be looking at my data for these Weirs. The only Weirs I am aware of were in up North, I believe. If anybody is has info on this line please email Irene and also to the Gilson list. Someone looking at our archives may run across your email and info. This very recently happened to me when a long lost branch of the family contacted me because of an email I had on Ancestry/Rootsweb.
One just never knows when or how a cousin will turn up. Very recently someone from my direct Joseph Gilson line contacted me. I am fortunate because this very sweet lady actually knew my g-aunts and uncles, father, grandparents, and a slew of cousins. We haven't exchanged any data outside of chatting but there is great promise that we can fill in a lot of blanks, I have the older info and she has from around 1930 on.
Have a great weekend,
Carina

Hello there, I am Irene Sharp Schaeffer. I was born in quapaw, Oklahoma in 1920.
My great grandmother was Sarah E. Weir,, who md.. Marshal Gilson ca; 1861,. I am interested in finding information regarding the Weir family. In 1960, I received a letter from Gladys Weir Stanley, who descended from the same Weir family as I do, who settled in Cherokee Co..,Kansas early. She said at that time she was nearly finished with a history (as she had found it) about our Weir family. She lived in Riley. I am searching for her data and would like to hear from someone who has that information. I will be looking forward to hearing from you and appreciate your efforts in my behalf very much. Thank you. Irene Schaeffer, Tucson, Ariz. Tele: 520-877-9192 I failed to tell you, Sarah Weir Gilson was related to the Weirs of Weir, Kansas. She and family moved across the state line into Missouri ca: 1865. Would sure like eto find some information on this family
