Most of the answers have been correct so far, with the
exception of this one. Although the cassettes used are
the same i.e. VHS, the cycles, measured in "Htz" are
not. The American system (NTSC) records at 60 Htz (or
cycles) and in the UK we use 50Htz (or cycles), so we
can see that they are not compatible unless machines
in both countries are equipped to play them back. I
think this is also true of the Australian system. If any of
you are thinking of sending tapes to and fro, it will
advisable to check to see if they can be played.
