the sun is shining here too today.
I think the song Oranges and Lemons goes back to Georgian days in the 1700s.
It is., to a certain extent a list of London Churches thus :
Oranges and Lemons, say the bells of St. Clements
You owe me five farthings say the bells of St. Martins
When will you pay me say the bells of Old Bailey.
When I grow rich say the bells of Shoreditch.
all the churches are in particular districts where there were banks, law
courts
or the homes of the wealthy.
A good way of learning your geography if you couldn't read.
