Hi Sally,

You wrote

<< Not to mention never hearing from anyone on LE about your query- info or
even that they have gotten the request and can't answer. Sally >>

Do you mean that you have asked for lookups from the LE but not had a reply?
As a volunteer I find that very strange. Personally I try to turn around a
request within 24 hours, and when I have asked questions of other volunteers
have had a reply within the same sort of timescale. Mostly I answer by
return if I can as I do not want stuff piling up in my "in tray". If you
mean you have asked generally on the list and not had a reply then it might
mean that your request has not been picked up, or that it simply cannot be
answered. I do find however, that in some circumstances, information is
supplied but no thank you comes back, which after all, is just common
courtesy. I think what must be remembered in all cases is that we are just
people interested in family history and trying to be helpful to the best of
our abilities - we are not professional genealogists and are not being paid
to provide a service.

Regards
Tricia
