Hi Glasgow Discussion Group,

There are currently 9 members of the group. I think it would be nice for
each of us to share with the group our Glasgow ancestry. I believe a few of
us are studying the Tennessee Glasgows (whose ancestors probably descend
from the Glasgows I have included here). Others of the members are
researching the Pennsylvania Glasgows who may be an entirely different line.

If any of you have additional documentation on any of these early Glasgows
llisted at the end of this email, I would enjoy hearing from you.

Again, I hope each of you will take the time to share with the group
information on your Glasgow ancestors. To email the group, address your
email to

Because we are still such a small group, I think it would be nice to reply
to the whole group instead of to the individual so we can all learn more
about the Glasgows.

Remember, the useful and success of this discussion group rests with each of
us. This is a chance for us to learn more about our ancestors.

Here is what I have collected on my earliest ancestors (most of which comes
from secondary sources):

Hello, Glasgow group! I'm writing to inform everyone in the group about
our Glasgow connections. When I first got involved in researching my
husband's background (my maiden name is McCurdy) he knew ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
about his grandfather, which I thought was very sad.

We're very lucky because I found out that my husband's grandfather CAME
from Glasgow, Scotland in the early 1900's. His name was Roscoe William
Glasgow and he married Jennifer Heikens (came over from Germany in the
early 1900's) and they settled in central Illinois near Clinton, Illlinois.
He died in the 1930's after a farming accident and his wife died in 1969;
they are buried in Weldon, Illinois.

Roscoe and Jennifer had three sons: Ivan, Roscoe, Virgil, and Aleta. Ivan
eventually moved to Phoenix, Arizona in the 1950's, but the other 3 stayed
in central Illinois. I'll send more to the group later, after I get more
dates together.

It's really interesting reading everyone's background.

Hi Glasgow Discussion Group,

Today I sent you information I found on the PA Glasgows on the World Family
Tree Disk vol 5. Although they are not my line I thought some of you may
find it helpful. There is additional information available on the
descendants that I could send if any one is interested. I have submitted a
request that takes a couple of days on the author of this work. When I get
it I will send it on to you.

I hope each of you will take the time to share information on your Glasgow
ancestors.
