Hello Bev,
I have just acquired The History of Bristol on CD. It does have an index,
and there is no mention of a GASTRELL there. But I have no idea how
comprehensive the index is, so I will keep my eyes open for the name as I
read through.
It is a fascinating book, very chatty and discursive, with lots of
information about individuals, anecdotes about pubs and other buildings,
details of churches, schools, institutions, streets and so on. I have just
spent a whole morning (when I should have been otherwise engaged) browsing
through it.
If anyone is interested, this and other Bristol books are available on CD
from ArchiveCDBooks (with whom I have no connection!) The address is below.
Best wishes,
Sally-Anne
