Hi All,
I'm hoping somebody might be able to help me with my current brick wall, sorry if this is a bit long winded.

My Gt. Gt. Grandparents were John Glies VIZARD and Jane Elizabeth DAVIS (I have Giles' parents).
John was christened Giles VIZARD born 1846 at Abbotside Cromhall. Jane well I'm lost with her.

By 1881 they had moved to Lancashire:

3 Clarksons Place, North Meols
Head John Giles VIZARD 35 born 1846 Cromhall Balcksmith
Wife Jane Elizabeth VIZARD 40 Bristol
Daur Alice VIZARD 13 born Bristol ~1868
Son John Giles VIZARD 7 born Bristol ..........................I have his birth certificate which says his mother was formerly Davis (John b. 73 Drummond Street, Stapleton).
(plus other children born after the move away from Gloucester)
AND James VIZARD 45 Blacksmith born Uperry (Upwey ?) Dorset - with whom I can find no family connection.

The problem here is that I can't for the life of me find a marriage between John/Giles Vizard and Jane Davis. - if there ever was one !

Also Alice was born in 1868 Bristol. Giles was an unmarried labourer in 1871 still back in Thornbury. He was lodging with a Blacksmith and so I figure he was probably his apprentice. I'm pretty convinced that was my Giles.
In 1871 I cannot find Jane E. Davis (I have also discounted the marriage to Eli Smith in Wheatenhurst). Neither can I find Alice DAVIS/VIZARD aged 2 or 3 mother Jane.

Can anybody with acces to BVRI ect please - please check for a possible marriage. They should have married between 1868 ? and 1874 possibly in Bristol ?

Jane Elizabeth DAVIS was born either 1841 or 1842 Bristol (apparently). Giles aged changed over the years, but Janes didn't much, so I suspect that she might have been born 1st - 4th April (from the census dates). I can't find a baptism for her under that name either.

I'd be very grateful for any suggestions as to which line of enquiry I should persue next.

Thanks,
Laura Vizard.
