Good morning all,

I have seen a number of requests for the 1871 census - Is
this census now indexed? If so, could I ask for a look up
for a William PELLING born 1808 (possible deaths I have
found have been 1875 and 1892) In Sompting, Sussex.

In the 1851 census he was at PRO reference HO 107/1950 -
Bristol, St James. At this time he was 42 and a haircutter
living with his wife Mary (who died in 1854) and some
children Robert, Dearing, Edwin, Mary, Emma, James and
Joseph. Some of these may have been living with him, others
married.

Son William Herbert (not at home in the 1851 census) married
in 1861 and died in 1871. He may have died before the census
but his wife and children could be there. Caroline Sophia
PELLING (born about 1841 in London) Herbert Robert 1862
Willington, Somerset, Caroline 1865 Taunton and Edith 1866
Taunton.

Regards,
Pat
