Carolyn,

You are just telling it like it is, and very well put if you ask me. Thing is that there is nothing you can do about it unless you have money enough to get Ancestry, I don't...

Database Access

There are plenty of elderly and disabled researchers that are affected.
( Has anyone every done the demographics of the average of age of the
online researcher?)

The numbers of folks participating in genealogy would be far , far ,
fewer if online access were not possible......I would not be flying all
over the country
or making three day car trips to get data- I just couldn't to it---the
boom in genealogy is because of the advancement online access has
provided.

We are now going "backwards" as Joan says...........We used to have to
travel, , then we could access without leaving our communities, or
homes.........and now we are taking a step Backwards. The closest
opportunity I have to obtain a card for online access is a six hour
round trip, to make a one minute presentation of myself to a librarian.

The cost of the gas , is another issue.....It just seems that
something is wrong with this picutre--and I dare say there are many
others in my situation who may be feeling the same way. Please don't
call me a complainer------But rather a researcher that would hope that
this situation could be resolved in a more satisfactory and creative way.

Best-
Carolyn
