I'm doing some work on Peter Gordon's line myself (although there were
multiple Peter Gordons in the area at the time). My information differs
from yours. The Peter Gordon who was born in 1703 had two spouses:
Margaret Melvin and Mary Craig. He had several children by each, but I
do not have a William among them. Peter's parents were Charles Gordon
and Lydia Hampton. Peter died in 1770.
There also seemed to be a different Peter Gordon entirely. In 1725 there
was a petition by an Elizabeth Gordon, "Widow and Relict of Peter Gordon
, late of Freehold in the County of Monmouth, Yeoman, deceased". The
will was dated 1723, so this Peter must have died in 1723-25, but I'm
not sure who he might have been.
I'll send my complete current information on this line to the list later
this week.
