<< Eddie,
Now you got me real confused. Are you saying that our Joshua is possibly
Joshua
GARE in Union in 1800. Btw, what is the name of the Dodd, Waters Book?
Thanks
Karen.>>>
About the Book: DODD GORE WATERS by Richard E. Dodd of Marshville, GA pub.
1980
About the 1800 census: I'm including the 1800 Union County SC census on
Joshua Goar on the last part of this e mail just in case you don't have it.
The Joshua Gare, of the 1810 census is ours. We had not found him on the 1810
census before this, and he has not been found on the 1830 census. Richard E.
Dodd had indicated that he had located him in Union Co., SC from 1800-1840.
Our Joshua Gore is on the 1810 census as Joshua GARE. Our Joshua Gore,
(Joshua GARE), (1768-1844), is living right where Richard Dodd said he was
living in 1810. He is next to Jesse Dodd who married Mary Bobo. It is
commonly thought that our Frances Dodd is the daughter of Jesse Dodd and Mary
Bobo. This has not been proved, but it was at one time supposed to have been
stated in the Bobo Manuscript. I guess no one can locate the Bobo manuscript
that lists this or our Frances is not listed I'm not sure which. Richard Dodd
alludes to this possibility in his book.
<<< I typed all the Sexton, Dodd stuff that you sent me into PAF. Jerry's
tied
into these guys it looks like, but where is the source for all the Louisiana
Sexton's/Bobo's? Thanks Karen >>
I think I told you that I took that off from a web page on Sexton. I'm not
sure if we are talking about the same material. If it is the Sexton material,
and I think it is, this would mean that I have not personally done the work,
so I cannot say that it is proved. I have no further information.
I do have a publication on the Bobo family which HAS BEEN proved. It is
complete with citations. I mentioned that to you, but IF I remember correctly
you never did ask me to send it. You probably do not have copy of that
material. The interesting part of that book is the White family that married
into the Bobo family in VA, (our first Bobo to the US). Then the next thing
that I find in MD is James Gore assuming the responsibility of raising an
illegitimate child by the name of White. All of this is in the same time
frame. Then the "common" name White follows our Gores in SC.
1800 Census, Union Co., SC Thomas, Joshua & Edward Goar
***pg. 236, Joshua Goar, age 32, (1768-1844, 1 m. 26-45), (1 f. 26-45), (1 m
under 10), (1f. 10-16), (3 f. under 10). Stays in Union Co., SC with wife
Frances Dodd.
***pg. 237, Thomas Goar, b. 1774 age 26, (1 m. under 10), (1 m. 26-45), (3 f.
under 10), (1 f, 10-16), (1 f. 16-26), (1 f. 45 & over). Thomas Gore & wife
Elizabeth Darnell Go to Franklin Co., TN
***pg. 237, Edward Goar, b. 1772, age 28, (1 m 16-26), (1 f. 16-26), (1 f.
under 5). Edward Gore & wife Mary (Norman) go to Bedford Co., TN in abt 1813.
Edward Gore is connected to the Thomas Gore, (James 2 Gore, James 1Gore), and
Rachel Neighbors of Loudoun Co., VA by the way of one Enoch FLOYD who is the
great grandfather of Thomas Gore and Rachel Neighbors children.
Eddie Josey: These three men are living very close to each other. I have
long believed that they are related, possibly brothers. Are they cousins or
two brothers with one cousin? All three of these men are connected to the
Dodd, Norman, Niederman Bobo and Floyd families. Thomas has an elderly lady
living with him. If it is his mother, then the boys father is probably
dead.
Both of the above Thomas and Joshua name a child Joshua Gore:
Two Joshua Gore's of the same age, b. SC:
1.Joshua Gore, Jr.. (Joshua Gore/Frances Dodd). b. 1803, SC, dies 1387 in GA.
Goes to GA abt. 1858, marries Temperance Matilda Starns. Eddie: This is my
Joshua Gore son of Joshua Gore (1768-1844).
2.Joshua Gore, (Thomas Gore. Sr./Flizabeth Darnell), b. 1801, SC, dies 1873
in TN. This Joshua is on the 1820 TN census. Marries Sarah. Possibly the
Joshua of 1820 land transaction, but mine was still there.
My line of Gore lived in Laurens, Spartanburg and Union Co. SC. The two old
ones in the 1790 census are Knotley and John.
