GOUDIE, Peter birthplace unknown, no note of christening found that has been
verified with the only verifiable record being his marriage :
m May 10, 1801 Sally Goudie Evie & Rendall, Orkney Island, Scotland, UK
children
...........James c. September 18, 1808; Stromness, Orkney Islands, Scotland
...........Peter Goudie c. December 04, 1806; Stromness, Orkney Islands,
Scotland
...........Sally Goudie c. July 03, 1805; Stromness, Orkney Islands,
Scotland
I'd be very interested in finding out what happened to GOUDIE, Peter as
family oral history has it that GOUDIE, James came to Canada first as a
whaler, then as a blacksmith for HBC (Hudson's Bay Company) because his
father was deceased. With his brother married there was need of an income to
help support his widowed mother.
Family records show no contact with any extended family in Orkney at any
time. I'd like to change this.
Goudie is a name that has been involved in many footnotes in British
Columbia's history and there are MANY of us still alive with the surname
continuing with each generation.
Regards,
Dennice
