Ann:

This is your first generation. My comments are in Red.

1. WILLIAM GRACE, SR ®1, 7G Grandfather. Born abt 1700 in Ireland. WILLIAM died in Westmoreland Co., Va. in Nov 1769, he was 69.

There is no evidence that William Grace was born in Ireland. Based on an order of the Northumberland Co., VA court binding him out as an apprentice he was born October 1707. He died between 6 September and 28 November 1769, the first date being the date of his will and the latter date being the date the will was proved.

WILLIAM married ANN UNKNOWN ®1, 7G Grandmother. Born abt 1706 in Ireland.

No evidence that Ann was born in Ireland, or that she was born about 1706. It is clear from the court records that she died btwn 1770-1774.

They had the following children:
2 i. JOHN (~1720-1802)

John was born about 1738 (estimate only), but there is an inventory of his estate in the Westmoreland County records indicating that he died about 1771. Further, disposition of the assets left by William in his will make it clear that John died without issue.

3 ii. THOMAS (~1725-)

Thomas was born about 1732 (estimate only) and married Honour Willoughby about 1757 in Edgecombe Co., NC, based on entries from the Edgecombe Co., NC Court for 22 February 1758 and June 1758. That Thomas owned part of the land in NC that William had mentioned in his will.

iii. ANN BELL ®1, 7G Aunt. Born abt 1722 in Ireland.

Ann was born about 1735 in Westmoreland County. Her father had been bound out as an apprentice in Virginia in 1719, so I do not see how it is possible that Ann was born in Ireland. All evidence indicates that she married William Bell, though there is no "smoking gun" proof of that.

iv. WILLIAM ®1, 7G Uncle. Born abt 1724 in Ireland.
In 1757 he was living in Edgecombe Co., NC and in 1786 he was in Wayne Co., NC

v. JAMES ®1, 7G Uncle. Born abt 1726 in Ireland. JAMES died abt 1802, he was 76.
In 1785 he was living in Dobbs Co., NC.
JAMES married JOHANNAH UNKNOWN ®1.

James is my ancestor. The James who married Johannah was the son of the original John, in other words brother of William. That James left a will that was probated in Westmoreland County 1744/45. The James that was son of William was born about 1745 in Westmoreland County and died in 1802 in NC. He was the man whose string of litigation has offered so much data on this family. Fully documented in the court records of Wayne County, NC.

vi. ROBERT ®1, 7G Uncle. Born abt 1728 in possibly Ireland. ROBERT died in Texas.

There was no child named Robert, at least not mentioned in William's will or in any other documents. If he were born in 1728 and came to Texas he would have been 93 in 1821 when Stephen F. Austin brought the first group of Anglo settlers to Texas -- this does not pass the smell test.

Best Wishes!
