Frances Grafton was married to Jeremiah Tricker on 29 October 1849 by the rector of Trinity Anglican Church, Streetsville, Ontario, and they left Ontario for Indiana the next day. Frances was the daughter of James Grafton and Frances Wheelock, who was the daughter of William Wheelock. Frances Wheelock was born 1793 in Wexford, Ireland, and migrated to Ontario at age 15. James Grafton was the son of Stewart Grafton and Mary McCool. James Grafton was born 1798 in South Carolina. His descendants forgot which southern state James was born in, and named the state of Kentucky by the time of 1880 US census. His father Stewart Grafton and his family probably moved from SC to Mississippi, locating near his brothers. Stewart was a Tory and disagreed with the upcoming War of 1812. He left the south with his family, including son James, and in 1812 crossed the Niagera River under cover of night. The family settled near Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The source with the most details !
about James Tricker and his daughter Frances was Lennox Grafton's book, The Grafton Family Connections (Part 2), 1986. A copy of his book is located at the Library of Congress in Washington, D. C.
