Hello, Linda,
For the parents of Major, Jackson, and Younger Greathouse, check Harmon and Elizabeth ("Betsey" Masoner) Greathouse in Henderson Co., KY, from 1812 through Harmon's death and estate settlement in 1831.  There are also deeds for the children there plus the 1840 census.
In 1810 Harmon was in Jessamine County, KY.  The marriage bond for Harmon's marriage to Betsey Masoner, daughter of Christopher Masoner, was issued 7 Dec. 1805 in Jessamine County.  Harmon also spent a few years in Warren County, KY (about 1799-1804.)
Harmon was one of the children of John Senior and Elizabeth Greathouse.  The names of the children and their relationship to John Sr. are specified in a lawsuit over John's estate. (Kentucky State Archives, Union
County Civil Case File, 1819, Box 10, Bundle 46, Accession No. A 1988-216.)  The lawsuit was filed in 1817.
Before moving to Jessamine Co. (part of Fayette until 1799), John Sr. lived in Shenandoah County, VA, from about 1771 through the tax list of 1783.  He was in Berks Co., PA, in the 1767 tax list.
Recent DNA testing has shown that a descendant of John Sr. matches eight other Greathouse descendants of Herman Groethausen, who left Bielefeld, Prussia [in northwestern Germany] in 1709 and settled in Germantown, PA, in 1710.

That is correct.  My ggg-grandmother Jane Marie can be found on the 1850 Jackson County IL census with her father and mother Major and Sarah Greathouse.

Thank you.
