The details of Canadian Service Records for WWI can be found at:
http://www.vac-acc.gc.ca/general/sub.cfm? source=collections/virtualmem
This is a search machine which will check for details of WWI servicemen
by entering the Surname and either Christian name, or initials.
That will give you the details of service number and rank etc. If they died
in action then the date of death and in some cases details of parents.
