Hi
Sorry - a reply to your query was drafted a few days ago, but my PC jammed
up, and when I rebooted the draft had gone, so here goes again:

There were two HMS AGAMEMNONs!

1 - Lord Nelson class, along with HMS L.N obviously.
Laid down 15/5/1905
Lauched 23/6/1906
Completed JUne 1908
Built by Beardmore.
Displacement 16000 tons at load draught; 16500 at Navy List
Length 410ft
Beam 79ft 6in
Draught 25ft 3in - 27ft
Guns 4x12in; 10x9.2in; 24x12pdrs; 10x3pdrs - of the lighter guns,, some were
removed 1916-17
Torpedo tubes 5 submerged 18in - 4 at beam; 1 at stern
Machinery 2 sets triple expansion, 16750 hp = 18 knots
Yarrow boilers
Carried 2171 tons of coal
1090 tons of oil
Able to steam 9180 miles at 10knots
Complement 800-817
Cost to build £1,540,000

August 1914 - with 5th Battle Squadron - took part in Channel patrols;
Dardenelles February 1915, taking part in early bombardments; shot down
Zeppelin L85 at Salonika; with Lord Nelson alternated between Mudros and
Salonika in readiness for a sortie by the GOEBEN, but when GOEBEN and
BRESLAU made their sortie in January 1918 both ships were off station,
leaving the German shiups to sink two monitors.
Armistice with Turks signed on board November 1918; returned to Chatham to
pay off in February 1919.
Recomissioned April 1923 as disamred target for gunnery and wireless
controlled aircraft; paid off for disposal 31 December 1926 and broken up.

2 - Auxiliary minelayer built 1929
7539 tons
Speed 15.5 knots
Guns 2x 4in Mk V/530
Became an Amenities ship in 1944.

Not quite so illustrious as her predecessor!
