In World War I, The Prince of Wales's Volunteers (South Lancashire
Regiment) formed a total of 21 battalions from its pre-war establishment of
two regular, one reserve and two territorial battalions. The regiment
gained 59 battle honours and its men were awarded 4 Victoria Crosses during
the Great War. The regiment lost a total of 5,450 casualties.

You need to establish which battalion or battalions he served with. That
can be done by researching the War Office archives at the Public record
Office, Kew. There are no on-line lists that you can use.
