Dear Garry,
Do you know the exact day he was wounded and I will be able
to tell you how many of his Comrades were killed on that same day?
Regards,

> Hello Everyone,
> I am a new subscriber and i am looking for information regarding The Devon
Regiment, especially during WW1. My Grandfather, Frederick George
Easterbrook, enlisted on 22nd January 1916 at Newton Abbot. He was
discharged on 26th December 1917 Quote " He is being discharged in
consequence of being no longer physically fit for war service under para
392XVI after serving 1 year and 263 days with colours and 0 years and 76
days in the Army Reserve". This information is on Army Form B 2079, amongst
his personal papers, discovered after his death in 1987. He was no longer
fit, because he had half of his left leg amputated after being wounded in
action.
> On Army form B 2067, it is listed that he served at Home from 08/04/1916
to 25/07/1916, then France 26/07/1916 to 20/09/1916, then finally 21/09/1916
to 26/12/1917 at Home. It also states that it is Character Certificate of
No. 21199.

> I have been told several things about how he was wounded, one is that he
was a member of an Artillery Battery, i have also been told that he was part
of a Machine Gun Crew, i am led to believe that the rest of the crew were
all killed.
> I would to love find out, which battle he was part of, how many men were
in this crew, and the names of those who died. I have been in touch with the
Archivist of the records of The Devonshire Regiment, but i do not have
sufficient information for them to make a search. How do i found out more
information????????
> I have tried several Web sites and it is very difficult to get information
on the Devon Regiment.
>
> I also have 3 members of another family name in my research, who died
during WW1, i have traced one through the Commonwealth War Graves
Commissions site, but the other 2 i can't seem to find, how would i find
information on them?
> All 3 were brothers in the Bowden Family from Torquay.
>
> I would appreciate any guidance that can be offered and i look forward to
reading the items on the list.

> The research pages of The WFA have helpful info on researching servicemen
of many nations, medals and reading trench maps - plus researching from old
postcards. http://www.westernfront.co.uk/
