I'm ashamed to admit that it is only in recent months that I have become
proficient at recording exactly where I've been, what I've looked at what it
said.
Anyway, here goes:
I think, from 'burnt records' I got a copy of K1380:
Name: Entwisle Gethrow
Corps:1/R War R Rank: Pte Regtl. No. 11128
Worc R
41916
Medal:
Victory & British Roll: l/102. B9 page 2051
Nothing else was recorded.
>From Medal roll (WO329/1160) I just copied down the details onto my
photocopy of the above:
B2051 Worcestershire Reg 11/9/1920
1st R War Regt 11128
2Worcs Reg 41916
His medal is inscribed R Warks Reg 11128 (got this today from my father)
There are no indications that I can see in his pay book to define when he
changed regiment although his original details had been crossed through and
his new no. etc entered. The other puzzling thing to me is that when he
enlisted he was L/Cpl & paid 2/2 a day. 'In the field' he seemed to have
been paid an extraordinary sum: 4/2/18 - 10/4/18 a total of £180. Surely it
should be shillings? He was also demoted to Private somewhere along the
way. Oh what a man of mystery!
Hope you can help me, but thanks for just taking an interest.
Tricia
