I assume your Harry Kennington would have served in the AIF (Australian
Army). If so, the best way is to look him up on the World War 1 Nominal
Roll on the Australian War Memorial Web Site (www.awm.gov.au/database).
This lists (apart from errors) all those serving overseas in the army.
Using this list works fine for names that are not exceptionally common.
As it happens, there is only one Harry Kennington listed - Sapper Harry
Kennington No 388 11th FCE (engineers) enlisted 3/4/1916 returned to
Australia 1/6/1919 (there is also a George Harold Kennington, who might be
known as Harry ?).
This should be enough for the archives to find the file for you.
