Hi,
Surely the numbering 1/16 & 2/16 refers to the 16th Battalion which
would split due to large number of bods available to the 16th Bn., to
1st 16th Bn., & 2nd 16th Battalion and written as 1/16 & 2/16 and this
would be done with any of a regiments battalions during wartime.
