Subject: [WW1] Were his medals claimed or not?

Hello Listers,
After the wonderful response I recieved the the question I posed a few days ago I am hoping (!!) that you lovely lot will be able to help me just as much with another quandry......
I have for the past couple of years been trying to find out if the family ever recieved the medals for an Officer of the Coldstream Guards, and having tried so many avenues always seem come up agaist a brick wall.
I read through the Coldstream Guards medal book at the PRO and came up with the following information.
2Lt JR Blacker N/W/5/19788 BM&VM I.Vx4758 15/5/22
Now, from the above information I gather my chap was awarded the British War medal the Victory medal ( and hopefully the 14/15 Star as he was killed during the battle of Loos.) I gather the medals were awarded or ready for collection as from 15th May 1922 ?
As far as we know the medals were never claimed by the family ( they had by now moved to France.) The brother of the deceased Capt C.P Blacker's medal information is interesting.....
Capt C.P Blacker MC N/W/1/22771 BW VM and emblems 1VB/802 2/6/1931
from the date stated we would assume the medals were collected or applied for in 1931? We know the medals were recieved as they are now housed in the Coldstrean Guards museum along with the medals Capt Blacker was awarded during WWII.
So back to 2nd Lt Blacker.......... does the information above give any indication as to wether the medals were recieved by the family or simply were available on the date mentioned? .............and, the medals were NOT claimed is it still possible for the nephew (as the next of kin) to claim the medals from the Army medlas office?
Thank you in anticipation .
