Hi List,
This is what I have information:

Private 15059, Alfred PETTS.
East Surrey Regiment, 8th.Bn.
Born Fulham, Middlesex
Enlisted Wandsworth, Surrey.
Killed in Action 24/11/1917
France & Flanders.
National Roll of the Great War
PETTS, A., L/Corporal, 13th East Surrey Regiment.
He volunteered in November 1914 and in the following year
was drafted to France, where he was in action at the battles of
Loos, the Somme, Bourlon Wood.
He was killed in action on November 24th, 1917, and was entitled
to the 1914-15 Star and the General Service and Victory Medals.
9D Marinefield Road, Fulham, SW6. X21484A
My problem being, that having looked at the War Diary, and finding that the 8th Bn. were in reserve at this time,
and incurred no losses, there is no mention of anyone being posted or transferred to another Bn.. which leaves me thinking he was with another Bn. before, and when he died, the Medal index card only shows his Bn. as 8th with just the General Service and Victory Medals.
I have been unable to search for his service papers as I live in Northern Ireland.
If anyone is able to help me sort any of this out , please contact me
Best wishes
Dave
