There is Golden Hill fort on the Isle of Wight, near Freshwater.

I missed the earlier posts in this thread so sorry if this is
irrelevant.

My grandfather was stationed there in early 20th before WW1, after he
returned from service in India suffering from typhoid. He was in Royal
Artillery (RA) - both Field and Garrison, but I assume this fort was
Royal Garrison Artillery. In Napoleonic times the many forts around the
Isle of Wight were very significant and probably were still up to WW1.
But I assume he was given a soft posting to finish his service because
of his illness and may have been giving training or something like that.

I don't know what happened there in WW1. Presumably the forts were still
significant to guard the Solent from naval attack but maybe they were
also used to assemble and prepare forces to send to the fronts. I don't
know what Light Infantry would be doing there.

Other significant RA places were Woolwich in London and Larkhill for
training on Salisbury Plain.
