I think that you might have a little more success if you have any more info,
no matter how vague. Is he likely for example to have survived the war?

I found only 1 possiblity on The C.W.G.C. site, which you have probably
already checked out for yourself. That was a chap who in fact died in WWII but, his
age at death is shown as 'unknown'. Come back to me off of list if you would
like the details.
