Dear All,
I have been researching 2 lads from the QWR and would be very grateful for any leads to my queries. I went to the PRO y'day and in looking up the medal index cards I have gained some new information and new questions...details of men after my questions!

1. George, who died in 1915 won the Victory, British and (15) Star
Thomas, who died in 1917 only the Victory, British - Why no Star?

2. Thomas, on medal index card, is a Private, but the CWGC has him as a Lance corp. Why is this not on the card?

3. George is reported as D of W in 1915, but Thomas is not mentioned as KIA in 1917

4. Thomas - The CWGC no is 551214, on the medal card his first number is 3774. Will this earlier number give me any further clues to him?

5. Lastly (!) In looking up the service records I started with Thomas, cos he has an initial. However, he was not between Thomas Percival Richards and Thomas Tower Richards. does this mean his were amongst the 'burnt documents'?

MANY thanks for any answere, suggestions etc. I will also post this on the 'Long, long trail' site which has just opened a Teritorial Force site. Details of the 2 chaps follow.
