Hi, I am new to the list.
I have a picture of a family member that states on the back " Cousin Arthur,
lost on the Battle Ship Good Hope..Non-Com Officer".
I don't know this "cousin's" last name, although I do know that he is
related to the RUTTY family of Stafford.
I have obtained from the CWGC a list of all the men lost on this ship in
1914, so I am attempting to find him by going from his first name and
working backwards!
My question is, if he was a Non- Com Officer, what ranks could he hold?
Would he be listed as an "Able Seaman" or some other rank? ( I don't know
anything about ranks etc. in the military!)
On the list there is a Arthur Morris of Stafford and he is shown as an Able
Seaman and I thought he might be a posibility.
I would appreciate any help anyone can give me.
