Hi Tom,

Thank you for your reply to my query. I see what you mean about the service numbers. I looked -up both men and Albert Christmas was from Edmonton, which is next to Wood Green, where my G'father was from. Could you give me the place of enlistment for both men.

Back in 2001 I had a researcher look for my G'father's Service Paper's and she turned -up only his Medal Index Card. So I have that to work with and his 3 medals.

I can see your reasoning, but have to tell you that this approach simply
doesn't "work" with men in the RHA / RFA / RGA - their numbers were
allocated at enlistment and bear no relationship to their final unit
allocation.

RFA men, with unit unknown, are one of the most difficult cases to crack, -
more often than not they are impossible. You say no service record
survives, - your evidence for that is - ?
