A very evocative poem, Claire. I think the last verse says it all, doesn't
it ?
I'd like to remember 2 of my ancestors who were killed in WW1 & if it's OK,
my Grandad, who died in WW2, 2 months before my Mum's 4th birthday.

My Great Nan Coles' brother:
Gunner 42536 James Munday, 112th Heavy Bty, Royal Garrison Artillery.
Born 19 December 1885 in Worcestershire. Killed in action 4 May 1917 at the
Battle of the Somme, aged 31.
Buried in St. Leger British Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France

My Grandad Collyer's cousin:
Private 30005 William George Peale, 1st Bn. Welsh Regiment.
Born 10 January 1897 in Folkestone, Kent. Killed in action 2 October 1915 at
the Battle of Loos, aged 18.
Commemorated on the Loos Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.

Private 5573060 Norman Waddoup, 5th Btn. Wiltshire Regiment.
Born 15 April 1917 in Birmingham. Killed in action 22 July 1944 in North
West Europe, aged 27.
Buried in Banneville-la-Campagne War Cemetery, Calvados, nr. Caen, France.
