Once again Forrest, Steve, Tom & Peter thank you for your responses.
James was born 1883 died 1955. I am not sure when he retired. He received
the BEM 1944 in recognition of his services as Leading Hand Carpenter at
William Hamilton & Co, Port Glasgow. (No employee records surviving)
So it seems that I cannot prove nor disprove that James was in the RAMC or
even actually a soldier in the First War.
High Resolution pic. Will attempt to activate husband for this.
The information in my last email was all the researcher wrote, apart from
fee of 25 pounds and enclosed 2 photocopies of "Roll of Individuals entitled
to.... with a James Hood 37853 on it.
As so often happens, we start delving into our family history when anyone
who could assist us is long dead. Oh Um.
Regards Lorraine
