My father (born 1900) never talked about his time in the Great War or his family.

Whilst on a trip to London I managed to pop in to Kew and do a search of the medal records but did not find anyone with his surname. My mother said he lied about his age and possibly his name but was, she thought, in the Rifle Brigade from 1917 to 1920.

On the chance he used his mother's maiden name of Horsman I did find a John Horsman's record who was in the Rifle Brigade. Is it possible to discover more about this person, such as where and when he enlisted and maybe his given address etc?

>From this limited info can I find out anything more about his war service?

This Hhn Horsman's medal record says he was a Pte Reg No. 9/28805. Victory Medal and British medal both M/102 B/25 page 3305 whatever that lot means.

The next record I printed out said:
Awarded the Military Medal - Corp 13th Bn Rifle Brigade. Reg no. 9/28805. Horsamn, John
Date of Gazette No. 63
Registered paper 68/12/822
Shedule number 244366
Most of the above means nothing to me.

I need to establish if this person is in fact, my father, John Toth (died 1983)

George Toth
