Hello Gerry, Since you wrote this I have seen a note, but cannot remember
where, that T/Lt could mean a promotion to Officer's rank for a senior
non-commissioned officer just for the duration of the war. The list I saw
was because the casualty list of young regular officers was so high. Best

I shall be obliged if anyone could tell me the meaning of the term Gen.
List. against an Officer's name (a T./Lt) instead of a Regiment in the
London Gazette notification that he had been awarded a Military Cross.
