Anthony - reports of specific events are very frequently not to be found
amongst the war diaries of the unit which generated the report in the first
place. This is not an occasional occurrence - it is VERY common.
You need to expand your searches higher up the chain of command and look at
the war diaries of the relevant Brigade HQ and Divisional General Staff and
then the A&Q Branch. If that doesn't work then try the Corps GS and A&Q
diaries. Also worth trying are the war diary extracted documents - the
battle accounts which were specifically set aside during the preparation of
the Official History. You can never guarantee that the document survived of
course.
Apologies if that is just a repetition of what TNA and the regimental
archive have already told you.
