Hi, not too sure with surnames....
but first names go as follows

first born takes paternal grandfather
second takes paternal grandmother
3rd maternal grandfather
4th maternal grandmother

They are a bit more relaxed about it now. I beleive alot of immigrants shortened their names once they left the homeland.

Hello,

My Grandfather Evangelos Yeoryiladakis changed his name to Angelos Ladakis
in 1923 when he became a citizen of the USA

His parents are, Stilianos Yeoryiladakis & Mariyo Mburmbahaki.

I need help with the Greek naming conventions; I think his line went
something like the following -

Yeoryi Ladakis had two sons - probably Yeoryi and Stilianos who each had a
son with the same given name probably Yeoryi.

One of the brothers changed his son's surname to Yeoryiladakis.

This son's name was Stilianos Yeoryiladakis the father of Evangelos
Yeoryiladakis.

I am NOT very confident in my assessment of the naming conventions used in
the 1800's in Greece.

I am at the point where I will begin searching for the family records in
Greece.

Thank you for any help on my "guess" at the family names.

Sincerely,

Bill
