Looking for any information regarding the ancestry or extended family of Francis C. Green, b. England ca 1829, died New York City 1887. Francis was married to Catherine Euphemia Traver in 1855 in NYC. They had two children, Cora, b. 1856 in NY and Charles F., born 1859 in NY. Both children probably born in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess Co. NY. Francis lived most of his adult life in Dutchess Co. He was a carriage trimmer by trade. In a letter written home from the war, fall of 1862, Francis mentions his mother's death. I do not have her name or he place. I don't know when he immigrated. Francis had some connections to New Jersey. I first find him in Newark NJ in 1850. Francis went back to New Jersey for a few years after the war. Francis was buried in Stamford CT.
Francis C. Green served in the 150th NY Infantry in the Civil War. Enlisting together with him from Poughkeepsie, NY, were John L. Green and George Green. I have some reason to believe that these two were related to Francis, although I have no proof. John married Josephine Russell in 1853 in NY. John was born in the US but both parents were born in Ireland. He was raised by a guardian in NYC. John died in 1877 at age 45. John Green was Captain of "F" Co., 150th NY. George was born in NY ca. 1842. He also served in "F" Co. as a private. I don't know much else about him except that his name keeps reappearing.
Cora was my grandmother. If any of this is familiar, I would love to hear from you.
