Hello to all:

Here is an example of Mr. Robert M. Torrence's work, 1954:

(Sir) James Grier
Born: 1604; d. 1666

Married Mary Browne, widow of Thomas Greer; mariage date 1626, dau. of the
(Reverend) JOHN Browne of Glencairn, Dumfries County, Scotland.

Son of (Sir) Wm. Grierson & Nichola (née Maxwell) Grierson was designated as of
The Rock & Copenoch, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. Mary Browne was, at the time of
this marriage, the widow of Thomas Greer, of Barjang Tower of the same county.
>From this (Sir) James Grier, originated the several Greer branches known as of
Tullylagen, Grange and Sea Park. Many of these accepted the Quaker faith and
removed to Ireland. The three known children of (Sir) James Grier and Mary (née
Browne) Grier are: (1) James Greer, (2) Henry Greer, and (3) Ann Greer.

i. James Greer. His name is mentioned in Playfair and also is included in
the Family Chart, nothing more. It may be assumed, as in many similar cases,
that he left the country. He was b. c1627 and it is asked if he may be the
James Greer who was transported into Maryland in 1675, by Samuel Gibbon, who
was granted 4,500 acres of land for transporting 90 persons into Maryland.

Arundel County, Maryland). See, (The Greer Family Originating in Maryland,
by Robert M. Torrence. Copy will found in the Maryland Historical Society,
Baltimore, Maryland).

ii. Henry Greer, m. Mary (née Turner) of whom presently. See Henry Greer &
Mary (née Turner).

iii. Ann Greer, m. Thomas Turner, both of county Dumfriesshire, Scotland.
They moved in 1634 to County Armagh, Ireland, & left two sons, John and Jacob
Turner. Now see Henry Greer, b. 1629.
