Here we go, James Grierson of Dalgoner, heir to John Greirsone of Castlemaddie, to Samuel Greirsone, his son. This would tell me that Samuel was the son of James, not his brother, as so many surmise.......and that John Greirsone of Castlemaddie is perhaps his uncle? What do you think?

[ 21 ] GD78/135 Disposition and Assignation by James Greirson [Grierson] of Dalgoner, heir male to John Greirsone of Castlemaddie, to Samuel Greirsone, his son, of the lands of Dalgoner and the rents of Over Cairnmunuel, Middle Cairnmiell, Nether Cairnmunell, Largerie, Lochstraige, and Dalmousyd, in the stewarty of Kirkcudbright, following an assignation of debts by the former to the latter, dated 31 October 1676. 9/12/1676
